Dear Friends,
I am writing this letter to inform you that after a lot of thought and contemplation, I have
decided to announce my retirement from the practice of dentistry. This summer marked my
37th year in practice, 34 of those here on East Euclid Ave in Des Moines! And some of you
have been with me every step of the way! Starting July 1, 2024, I reduced my schedule to 2
days a week (Tues and Wed) and I will officially retire at the end of 2024.
I am so proud of the practice we have built here. But mostly, I'm proud of the relationships I
have been blessed with, including many amazing members of my staff and also the many
patients that I have met over the years. To my staff members that have become like family.........THANK YOU!! I couldn't have done it without your love, support and loyalty. To the
many patients over the years, you have blessed me and my family more than you'll ever know.
It has been my honor to be able to say, “I'm your dentist”. I never could have imagined the
depth of relationships I would feel towards so many people from simply being the provider of
their dental care. The mutual trust we've acquired has been incredible. Thank you for believing
in me. I've seen generations of many families and you all will never know how special that
makes me feel.
Cathy and I have been blessed with 3 kids and 4 grandchildren. Most of you have probably
been held captive as I have made you look at their pictures over all the years! We have many
adventures to attend to and look forward to spending more time with our family during
retirement. Having more of a part time schedule has made me aware of how fast time goes by,
and I am definitely looking forward to a slower and more relaxing pace.
Throughout my entire career here I have strived to treat my patients “the way I would
want to be treated”. I expect that philosophy to continue, and I hope you will continue
to visit Dr. Roemmich and my friends and colleagues at 609 E. Euclid.
As sad as I am to say “goodbye”, I am also filled with thoughts of blessings and gratitude. I
hope you will stop me and say “hi” if you see me out and about in the community.
Thanks again for everything,
Don Copley
