Here at Copley Roemmich Family Dental we offer dental implants to replace missing teeth. An implant can be placed to replace a single tooth or used to support a prosthesis that replaces multiple teeth.
Single tooth implants are the most common type of implants placed. Occasionally an immediate implant can be placed where the tooth is extracted and the implant is placed on the same day. However, most implants are placed in a more conventional manner. The first step in the process is to extract the tooth needing to be replaced. Often times a bone graft needs to be placed at this time. Following three months of healing time a CBCT scan will be taken to assess the healing and evaluate the amount of bone present. If the doctor determines that healing is adequate and there is sufficient bone for implant placement, the CBCT scan will be sent to the lab to fabricate a surgical guide. During the next appointment the sugrical guide will be used to help with implant placement. Following implant placement there is a three month waiting period to allow the implant to integrate with the bone before the implant can be restored with either a screw-retained or cement-retained crown.
